The Quebec Government has released its much anticipated Quebec immigration plan for the year 2017, and the province’s immigration programme looks quite promising to those who have been trying hard to immigrate to the Canadian French province.

Recently the Quebec Immigration Minister ‘Kathleen Weil’ had announced that the new liberal government is ready to welcome approximately 51,000 new immigrants, though the announcement received widespread criticism from the opposition. She further expressed her hopes that the number will rise to 52,500 by the end of 2019.

Reportedly, the government plans to raise the percentage of the economic immigrants to 63%. It mainly includes skilled workers and businessmen/women who will directly work towards the growth of the province’s economy.

Quebec immigration will no longer be a dream or a tedious task as the government is working to simplify the immigration process under the title ‘together, we are Quebec’.

In the next five years, the government plans to allocate a budget of 40 Million Canadian Dollars to reduce the processing delays and clear the backlog on a similar norm of ‘Express Entry’. The application processing will be reduced to three months, and the new scheme will be formed keeping in mind the specific demand and needs of the international students and temporary workers, to help them become the country’s permanent residents.

The province will keep the prospective immigrants on priority who have advanced intermediate knowledge of the French language. Approximately, 85% of the total immigrants must be familiar with the French language before coming to the Quebec.

Further, the emphasis has been given to family unification, and it is expected that nearly 11,500 people will reunite with their family in the province. Finally, the province hopes to welcome around 8,500 Syrians as refugees.
